À portée de Souffle

The bubble is probably the most precarious of all sculptural forms. From the moment you bring it into existence, you become suspended to its trajectory, for you know it will be short-lived. It defies every feature of the monument, negating gravity, being almost transparent and refusing to stay put. No matter how beautiful you find it, you take malicious pleasure in wishing its demise. Strangely, its fragility recalls inspiration—it can fade away just when you think you’ve seen it. Psychological bubbles can also appear between people. They often surround tacit agreements or shaky common grounds. An uncalled-for gesture, look or word can shatter the most wonderful harmony.
