Cheap objects, hardware material and recycled items share common properties that inform the production of Éric Cardinal’s work. Since they are affordable and do not require complex technical means to be transformed, very simple tools can be used. They seemingly offer an availability that is essential to an empirical approach based on spontaneity. Anything, ultimately, could be part of the work. Some objects can be folded, while others can be torn. That’s how he always addresses the objects and materials he uses.
