L’art et l’espace urbain ont une longue histoire croisée, notamment avec la photographie qui a joué un rôle de mémoire, d’archive, de documentation et de construction des grands récits fondateurs dans de nombreux mouvements de transformation des villes en centres urbains. Voulant échapper à la logique de représentation souvent associée à cette histoire croisée de l’art et de l’urbanisation, de nombreux artistes contemporains font de la rue leur atelier en réalisant des projets qui interviennent dans l’espace public.
