Becoming Fahrenheit 451
Don’t you know there is a war on, moron (2007) and On the Other Side (2008) are part of a generic project entitled “Becoming Fahrenheit 451” that I’ve been working on since 2007, based on Ray Bardbury’s book Fahrenheit 451 and François Truffaut’s film adaptation. Meticulously exploring Bradbury’s work in order to memorize it, I’m experiencing a real mise en abyme of the novel. In this sci-fi piece, books are forbidden and a community of Book People is trying to resist by keeping alive the memory of their stories. Through this memorizing experience, I’ve built a world of photographs, videos, performances, writings, readings and installations where the narration of this experience intersects with Fahrenheit 451’s own story.
