Marjolaine Bourdua

This sculpture mimics and diverts a scene from its functionality through the use of cardboard and wobbly rendering. The object proposes a melancholy and obsolete show biz representation. Its figurative aspect opens up a space for the mental ­projection of a performance or concert that, however, will not take place. Therefore, a sort of suspended fiction surrounds the object. Marjolaine Bourdua has presented her audio works and performances, and participated in group shows (Le Dojo, Radio Grenouille, Euphonia, Galerie de l’Ancien Collège des Jésuites in Rheims, Centre d’art Amherst, Galerie Verticale, Maison des arts de Laval, Praxis art actuel, etc.). She holds a B.A. from the École des arts visuels et médiatiques of UQAM, as well as a Diplôme d’études supérieures from Villa Arson in Nice. She currently lives in Montreal where she pursues her visual and audio research into pop culture.
