Le film retrace la vie d\u2019Elmyr de Hory, un faussaire de grande renomm\u00e9e, et interroge le concept d\u2019authenticit\u00e9.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Les histoires de grandes escroqueries et le talent du d\u00e9tournement ont toujours fascin\u00e9, mais ce que pose d\u2019embl\u00e9e&nbsp;<em>F is for Fake<\/em>&nbsp;est une interrogation sur notre appr\u00e9hension collective de l\u2019authenticit\u00e9. En d\u00e9ambulant parmi ces copies expos\u00e9es dans une institution, la question \u00ab\u2009qu\u2019est-ce qui fait \u0153uvre\u2009?\u2009\u00bb revient nous interpeler. Le faux est-il encore vu comme une usurpation de l\u2019original ou peut-il d\u00e9sormais \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme authentique\u2009?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toutes les pi\u00e8ces pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es ont en commun un rapport intrins\u00e8que \u00e0 une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 ou \u00e0 un objet. Les reproductions de grands peintres tels que Modigliani ou Chagall posent en exergue cette relation entre copie et \u0153uvre originale. Le projet&nbsp;<em>Bootleg<\/em>&nbsp;de John Boyle-Singfield (pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis sa censure en janvier 2013) observe avec justesse nos pratiques contemporaines d\u2019appropriation et confronte cette utopie de singularit\u00e9 dans une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 influenc\u00e9e par internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le concept d\u2019originalit\u00e9 et de valeur reste difficile \u00e0 d\u00e9finir, comme le montre l\u2019exemple de Morisseau dont les \u0153uvres ont subi une d\u00e9pr\u00e9ciation par le nombre de mauvaises copies vendues \u00e0 son insu. Ces reproductions c\u00f4toient les billets de dix livres d\u00e9tourn\u00e9s par Banksy, celui-ci ayant remplac\u00e9 l\u2019effigie de la reine d\u2019Angleterre par celle de Diana et la mention&nbsp;<em>Bank of England<\/em>&nbsp;par&nbsp;<em>Banksy of England<\/em>. Ces pi\u00e8ces ont perdu leur statut de fausse monnaie et sont devenues des objets ouverts \u00e0 la sp\u00e9culation, voyant leur valeur monter de 10 \u00e0 200 livres sur ebay. Ce que r\u00e9v\u00e8lent de faux billets ou des \u0153uvres contrefaites face aux institutions qui les prot\u00e8gent, c\u2019est que le syst\u00e8me de valeurs trouve sa naissance soit dans des croyances collectives, soit dans la valeur inh\u00e9rente d\u2019un objet. Des changements importants dans notre rapport \u00e0 l\u2019image surviennent lorsque ces notions sont sollicit\u00e9es dans une nouvelle perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>F is for Fake<\/em>&nbsp;se place comme une amorce d\u2019histoire collective de la copie, une anthropologie de l\u2019appropriation. L\u2019excellente proposition curatoriale d\u00e9montre que la marge ultramince entre le faux, la copie et son appropriation transcende le concept d\u2019originalit\u00e9 tout en d\u00e9montrant que ces notions ne cessent de se complexifier. La probl\u00e9matique restera en suspens tout l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, puisque la galerie propose une s\u00e9lection de projections en parall\u00e8le avec l\u2019exposition. On y retrouvera notamment le faux documentaire&nbsp;<em>Forgotten Silver<\/em>&nbsp;de Costa Botes et Peter Jackson.
