D\u00e9j\u00e0 en 2011, le cr\u00e9ateur \u00e9mergent, fils d\u2019un chasseur-taxidermiste, cr\u00e9e<em> Turkey Blind,<\/em> une installation form\u00e9e d\u2019un faux d\u00e9cor imitant les modes de pr\u00e9sentation des dioramas du mus\u00e9e d\u2019histoire naturelle de New York, un cadre avec lequel l\u2019artiste se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait en for\u00eat pour photographier des dindes sauvages. Le r\u00e9sultat est saisissant. Les oiseaux vaquent \u00e0 leurs occupations, insouciants, alors qu\u2019ils semblent fig\u00e9s dans un environnement artificiel du point de vue du regardeur. Marin poursuit son exploration d\u2019effets de perspective avec <em>Home Range<\/em> (2015), \u0153uvre d\u2019art public r\u00e9alis\u00e9e pour le Sturgis Playground de Philadelphie. L\u2019\u0153uvre consiste en une cl\u00f4ture sur laquelle des silhouettes de cerfs apparaissent dans deux positions diff\u00e9rentes selon l\u2019endroit d\u2019o\u00f9 ils sont observ\u00e9s, effet obtenu au moyen d\u2019une barri\u00e8re de parallaxe, technique d\u2019animation ancienne qui permet de cr\u00e9er une image composite.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><em>There\u2019s plenty of <strong>_ <\/strong>in the sea<\/em> est une exposition o\u00f9 Marin d\u00e9ploie une strat\u00e9gie visuelle et narrative similaire, centrant cette fois son attention sur l\u2019univers des amateurs de poissons tropicaux. Dans la salle sont dispos\u00e9s quatre moniteurs dont les polariseurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retir\u00e9s (ne diffusant donc \u00e0 priori que du blanc) auxquels r\u00e9pondent huit aquariums d\u2019occasion obtenus par l\u2019entremise du site de vente en ligne Kijiji. Hormis l\u2019ajout d\u2019eau color\u00e9e, bleue ou rouge, selon le cas, les bassins ont \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9s intacts&nbsp;: coquillages, ch\u00e2teaux de c\u00e9ramique, algues de plastique et autres accessoires kitchs peuplent ainsi ces microcosmes d\u00e9sormais d\u00e9nu\u00e9s de vie animale. Si \u00e0 elles seules ces sculptures suffisent \u00e0 susciter la curiosit\u00e9, un examen plus attentif des dispositifs imagin\u00e9s par l\u2019artiste et observ\u00e9s \u00e0 travers les aquariums r\u00e9v\u00e8le des r\u00e9alit\u00e9s insoup\u00e7onn\u00e9es. L\u2019on constate que les t\u00e9l\u00e9viseurs diffusent les interactions entourant les achats effectu\u00e9s par Marin. Les vid\u00e9os documentent en effet les transactions de l\u2019artiste avec les particuliers, r\u00e9sidents de la r\u00e9gion de Montr\u00e9al ou d\u2019Ottawa chez qui il s\u2019est d\u00e9plac\u00e9, s\u00e9quences capt\u00e9es au moyen d\u2019une cam\u00e9ra cach\u00e9e. De cette mani\u00e8re Marin nous invite \u00e0 faire incursion dans leurs espaces de vie. Ces sc\u00e8nes s\u2019offrent \u00e0 la vue uniquement \u00e0 travers les aquariums, l\u2019eau bleue r\u00e9v\u00e9lant une vid\u00e9o distincte de celle de teinte rouge. Deux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s se recouvrent simultan\u00e9ment sur un m\u00eame moniteur, mondes auxquels il nous est possible d\u2019acc\u00e9der qu\u2019en se pr\u00eatant au jeu auquel nous convie Marin.
