Elles d\u00e9tournent le v\u00eatement comme instrument de coercition et de \u00ab\u2009maintien\u2009\u00bb pour en faire un outil d\u2019\u00e9mancipation\u2009; elles \u00ab\u2009portent la culotte\u2009\u00bb\u2009; elles se \u00ab\u2009r\u00e9pandent\u2009\u00bb (en corps d\u00e9corset\u00e9s)\u2009; elles changent \u00e0 loisir d\u2019identit\u00e9 tout en d\u00e9voilant des postures sociales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chez certaines, la mise en sc\u00e8ne de soi montre la volont\u00e9 d\u2019un engagement de son propre corps, dans la tradition du <em>body art<\/em>. Nad\u00e8ge Grebmeier Forget filme en gros plan son entrejambe lors d\u2019une performance, <em>Creamy Deluxe<\/em>, o\u00f9 elle introduit des beignets dans sa culotte. Dans ce clin d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 <em>L\u2019origine du monde<\/em> de Courbet et \u00e0 la pornographie <em>cheap<\/em>, elle \u00ab\u2009s\u2019augmente\u2009\u00bb de parties g\u00e9nitales consommables. Johanna Bena\u00efnous et Elsa Parra rejouent des typologies de couples aux genres interchangeables dans les photographies de la s\u00e9rie <em>A Couple of Them.<\/em> Myriam Jacob-Allard, dans la vid\u00e9o <em>Maman ne t\u2019en fais pas<\/em>, reprend en famille les airs d\u2019un chanteur qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois populaire ador\u00e9 de ses parents, pour mettre \u00e0 jour leurs clich\u00e9s misogynes. Dayna McLeod, pour sa performance <em>Cougar For A Year<\/em>, porte pendant une ann\u00e9e compl\u00e8te des v\u00eatements \u00e0 motifs animaliers qui illustrent le st\u00e9r\u00e9otype de la \u00ab\u2009femme cougar\u2009\u00bb. La performance s\u2019ach\u00e8ve par la destruction de celui-ci, le public \u00e9tant invit\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9couper son v\u00eatement, un clin d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 la performance <em>Cut Piece<\/em> de Yoko Ono (1964).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enfin, dans la s\u00e9rie photographique <em>Working Assumption<\/em>, la Montr\u00e9alaise Kim Waldron emprunte leur habit de travail \u00e0 des hommes dont le m\u00e9tier a longtemps \u00e9t\u00e9 un apanage masculin. En hors-champ on imagine l\u2019homme d\u00e9pouill\u00e9 de sa parure, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire de son pouvoir. Dans cette mise \u00e0 nu du masculin, dans cette d\u00e9bandade, surgit la fragilit\u00e9 de l\u2019homme. Ainsi, si l\u2019exposition <em>Dress Codes<\/em> s\u2019envisageait clairement selon une perspective f\u00e9ministe, il y \u00e9tait question aussi, en creux, de l\u2019homme et de son \u00e9mancipation des lois du patriarcat dont il est \u00e9galement victime, assign\u00e9 \u00e0 des r\u00f4les dits virils.
