Ces activit\u00e9s confirment pour nous l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat grandissant port\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019histoire et \u00e0 la culture des centres d\u2019artistes et sont rattach\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019expertise de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Concordia, seule institution \u00e0 conserver des fonds de centres d\u2019artistes dans la r\u00e9gion de Montr\u00e9al.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet de Vincent Bonin se distingue par la qualit\u00e9 et la profondeur de sa r\u00e9flexion sur l\u2019utilisation et la diffusion des archives. L\u2019auteur apporte un nouvel \u00e9clairage sur l\u2019histoire des centres d\u2019artistes. Ainsi, des \u00adstructures comme N. E. Thing Co. et Intermedia Society se sont incorpor\u00e9es en amont des exigences l\u00e9gales li\u00e9es aux subventions gouvernementales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ouvrage pr\u00e9sente diverses reproductions num\u00e9riques de documents d\u2019archives r\u00e9partis en \u00ab\u2009cahiers\u2009\u00bb. Le graphisme pr\u00eate toutefois \u00e0 \u00adconfusion, notamment la place tr\u00e8s discr\u00e8te des organismes et des particuliers au bas des pages et la num\u00e9rotation des composantes d\u2019un m\u00eame document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonin souligne le caract\u00e8re subjectif du travail d\u2019archiviste, qui met en forme la documentation, processus parfois commenc\u00e9 par le donateur du fonds lui-m\u00eame. D\u2019ailleurs, ne perdons pas de vue que le choix des documents reproduits dans <em>Protocoles<\/em> <em>Documentaires <\/em>n\u2019est pas neutre. L\u2019archiviste Bonin propose des mat\u00e9riaux aux lecteurs et aux \u00adchercheurs&nbsp;: sa propre recherche est compl\u00e9t\u00e9e par six \u00ab\u2009\u00e9tudes de cas\u2009\u00bb du \u00adcollectif Primary Information (r\u00e9\u00e9dition des documents de la Workers\u2019 Art Coalition), de David Tomas (<em>Environment<\/em> de N. E. Thing Co.), de Kristy A. Holmes (<em>True Patriot Love<\/em> de Joyce Wieland), d\u2019Anne B\u00e9nichou (<em>Great Wall of 1984<\/em> de Glenn Lewis), de Marion Froger (les d\u00e9buts de Vid\u00e9ographe) et de Felicity Tayler (le r\u00f4le des publications au sein des structures \u00adautog\u00e9r\u00e9es).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comme Mich\u00e8le Th\u00e9riault dans son excellente introduction, Bonin \u00ads\u2019interroge sur la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de ces corpus par les institutions (mus\u00e9es et universit\u00e9s). Mais heureusement qu\u2019elles ont conserv\u00e9 \u2013 parfois de justesse \u2013 ces traces qui ne correspondent pas toujours \u00e0 leurs valeurs. La r\u00e9flexion tr\u00e8s fine de Bonin est peut-\u00eatre un antidote \u00e0 cette situation&nbsp;: elle expose le caract\u00e8re hybride de ces archives, traces administratives m\u00e9tiss\u00e9es de pr\u00e9occupations artistiques et sociales.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat port\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019histoire et \u00e0 la culture des centres d\u2019artistes exigera la collaboration croissante des institutions gardiennes d\u2019archives, qui devront se montrer particuli\u00e8rement souples et ouvertes.
