L\u2019exposition hautement conceptuelle rassemble dix artistes qui proposent de d\u00e9sactiver la valeur de l\u2019art \u00e0 partir d\u2019une r\u00e9flexion sur ses conditions socio\u00e9conomiques. La valeur se d\u00e9tache ainsi du produit artistique pour s\u2019ancrer dans une \u00e9tude de ses imp\u00e9ratifs sociaux, politiques et financiers.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9s\u0153uvrement de la valeur se manifeste dans l\u2019utilisation r\u00e9currente de mat\u00e9riaux non nobles, dont la port\u00e9e signifiante est d\u2019autant exalt\u00e9e. Les \u0153uvres con\u00e7ues \u00e0 partir de tabac de Gabrielle L\u2019Hirondelle Hill en sont un exemple \u00e9loquent. Les propositions r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de cette plante indig\u00e8ne mat\u00e9rialisent les relations \u00e9conomiques qui ont uni et d\u00e9chir\u00e9 les peuples autochtones et les colonisateurs des Am\u00e9riques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ainsi, du drapeau manifeste aux lapins dodus assis en bouddhas pensifs en passant par la tapisserie imprim\u00e9e \u00e0 m\u00eame le mur, le tabac \u00e9voque, par ces diverses formes, les modes de transaction et de relation apparus autour de lui. <em>New Growth<\/em> (2019), o\u00f9 du tabac frais a \u00e9t\u00e9 frott\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 tacher le mur, traduit notamment une certaine appropriation du territoire tout en rendant inop\u00e9rant l\u2019habitus transactionnel des objets.  Le collectif RYBN.ORG approfondit une r\u00e9flexion sur l\u2019alt\u00e9rit\u00e9 du monde financier \u00e0 travers <em>ADM<\/em> <em>XI<\/em> (2015), ensemble d\u2019impressions, d\u2019\u00e9crans et de s\u00e9rigraphies. La mise en parall\u00e8le des communaut\u00e9s marginalis\u00e9es, du d\u00e9funt Studio XXX et de la galerie engage une r\u00e9flexion n\u00e9cessaire sur la ville, ceux et celles qui l\u2019occupent ainsi que les cycles de construction-destruction qui d\u00e9clenchent une migration souvent aussi d\u00e9sorganis\u00e9e que n\u00e9faste pour les communaut\u00e9s concern\u00e9es. Dans une installation inspir\u00e9e d\u2019un columbarium, arkadi lavoie lachapelle examine pour sa part l\u2019industrie fun\u00e9raire afin de s\u2019en r\u00e9approprier l\u2019exercice. <em>Le travail que l\u2019on r\u00eave gratuit<\/em> (2022) pr\u00e9sente, entre autres \u00e9l\u00e9ments informatifs sur l\u2019historique et les usages de l\u2019embaumement, un touchant enregistrement sonore o\u00f9 des gens expriment leurs derni\u00e8res volont\u00e9s quant au traitement post mortem de leur corps. \u00c0 l\u2019envers de l\u2019invalidation du capital \u00e0 laquelle incite la r\u00e9appropriation de soi, des espaces ou des biens, les deux it\u00e9rations d\u2019<em>Economy of Means<\/em> de Slinko imposent une prise de conscience fataliste. La vid\u00e9o (2022) montre une chor\u00e9graphie o\u00f9 des pains s\u2019accumulent pour prendre une forme anthropomorphique\u2009; la danse tourne cependant \u00e0 une surprenante d\u00e9m\u00eal\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 leur \u00e9limination. Les estampes num\u00e9riques (2017) reprennent quant \u00e0 elles le graphisme des <em>comic books<\/em> pour illustrer une crise devant laquelle l\u2019autod\u00e9termination promue par l\u2019exposition offre malheureusement un pi\u00e8tre r\u00e9confort.
