Elle lance ainsi un d\u00e9fi au spectateur car le rythme fr\u00e9n\u00e9tique du montage dans <em>How to Make Money Religiously<\/em>, la vid\u00e9o autour de laquelle s\u2019organise l\u2019exposition, et le brouillage constant entre image et objet, mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 et virtualit\u00e9, interdisent de v\u00e9ritablement s\u2019arr\u00eater sur les images. Les objets occupant l\u2019espace physique de l\u2019installation r\u00e9apparaissent d\u00e9mat\u00e9rialis\u00e9s dans les vid\u00e9os ou sont juxtapos\u00e9s \u00e0 leurs repr\u00e9sentations, cr\u00e9ant des effets de trompe-l\u2019\u0153il. \u00c0 l\u2019inverse, certaines images de Prouvost sont d\u2019une telle sensualit\u00e9 qu\u2019elles provoquent des sensations de l\u2019ordre du tactile, devenant presque mat\u00e9rielles. L\u2019un des passages de la vid\u00e9o principale r\u00e9sume ces questions en pr\u00e9sentant une version actualis\u00e9e de <em>Hand Catching Lead<\/em> (1968) de Richard Serra : une main tente de saisir des images num\u00e9riques qui lui glissent entre les doigts. L\u00e0 o\u00f9 Serra propose une r\u00e9flexion sur la sculpture de son temps et sur le m\u00e9dium film, Prouvost dit quelque chose de notre condition \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e8re d\u2019internet: l\u2019image prolif\u00e8re et s\u00e9duit au point de nous faire croire \u00e0 son existence quasi r\u00e9elle, avant de nous \u00e9chapper \u00e0 nouveau.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>Et pourtant, nous dit l\u2019artiste, notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 n\u00e9o-lib\u00e9rale repose sur le fait que nous nous accrochons religieusement aux images. L\u2019exposition met en sc\u00e8ne un monde de d\u00e9sirs inassouvis, de promesses non tenues o\u00f9 se m\u00ealent cyber-arnaques, billets de loterie gagnants et rem\u00e8des miracles. Les vid\u00e9os empruntent leurs structures aux \u00e9missions d\u2019info-publicit\u00e9 et aux m\u00e9thodes d\u2019\u00e9panouissement personnel, s\u2019engageant \u00e0 \u00ab rendre [les spectateurs] plus riches \u00bb et \u00e0 les \u00ab changer pour toujours \u00bb. Bien \u00e0 sa place \u00e0 New York, ville-temple du r\u00eave am\u00e9ricain, l\u2019une des vid\u00e9os ironise sur le mythe du \u00ab si on veut on peut \u00bb, montrant qu\u2019il est possible de mettre le feu \u00e0 (l\u2019image d\u2019) un b\u00e2timent simplement en le pointant du doigt. Comme Vito Acconci dans ses vid\u00e9os des ann\u00e9es 70,&nbsp;<em>Undertone<\/em>&nbsp;ou&nbsp;<em>Theme Song<\/em>&nbsp;par exemple, l\u2019artiste cherche \u00e0 \u00e9tablir une relation d\u2019intimit\u00e9 perverse avec le spectateur, en lui donnant des instructions, en flattant son ego ou en lui chuchotant des paroles suggestives.
