Celle-ci aura un effet saisissant sur l\u2019artiste, alors projet\u00e9 devant l\u2019incommensurabilit\u00e9 du cosmos que r\u00e9v\u00e8lent les miroirs d\u2019un t\u00e9lescope et l\u2019expertise d\u2019astrophysicien\u00b7nes. R\u00e9unissant des \u0153uvres r\u00e9centes ainsi que des essais par Olivier Hernandez, Ga\u00eblle Morel et Jean-Michel Quirion, <em>Les \u00e9preuves \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires<\/em> t\u00e9moignent de l\u2019influence de cette exp\u00e9rience sur la pratique de l\u2019artiste, pour qui la lumi\u00e8re et son spectre deviennent les outils \u00e0 partir desquels r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir notre conception du monde.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019ouvrage propose une repr\u00e9sentation \u00e9loquente de la finitude et du temps, notamment avec une s\u00e9lection d\u2019images provenant du corpus <em>Les impermanents<\/em> (2017-2021). Ouvrant la publication, cette s\u00e9rie se compose de cartes de visite du 19<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle trouv\u00e9es par l\u2019artiste, cartes qu\u2019il perfore \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019une aiguille et dont les perc\u00e9es reproduisent une constellation d\u2019\u00e9toiles. Les portraits anonymes, assombris et brouill\u00e9s par les trous, forcent le regard \u00e0 capter le peu de lumi\u00e8re refl\u00e9t\u00e9 sur la page pour en tirer des indices sur la personne photographi\u00e9e. Pocreau y revisite non seulement une tradition photographique vernaculaire, souligne la conservatrice et historienne de l\u2019art Ga\u00eblle Morel, mais agit \u00e9galement \u00e0 titre d\u2019\u00ab\u2009artiste-archiviste\u2009\u00bb par la revalorisation d\u2019archives oubli\u00e9es, d\u00e9tourn\u00e9es et inscrites dans un r\u00e9cit collectif. Aux images de diffraction de la lumi\u00e8re et d\u2019astres succ\u00e8dent des \u00e9preuves num\u00e9riques composites de min\u00e9raux et de fossiles. On voit \u00e9galement des photographies de paysages idylliques, trouvailles que l\u2019artiste manipule afin d\u2019en proposer des versions aux couleurs satur\u00e9es, \u00e9vocatrices d\u2019un souvenir lointain ou encore d\u2019une destination imaginaire<em>. <\/em>Au centre de cette s\u00e9quence d\u2019images s\u2019ins\u00e8re la s\u00e9rigraphie <em>Ma position dans l\u2019Univers, la nuit du 20 juillet alors que je contemple le ciel<\/em> (2018) comme un rappel de notre fugacit\u00e9. Cherchant \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 l\u2019interrogation \u00ab\u2009Pourquoi la nuit est-elle noire\u2009?\u2009\u00bb, Hernandez pose les grandes lignes de l\u2019\u00e9volution des connaissances sur la voute c\u00e9leste et de l\u2019importance du spectre lumineux pour en \u00e9lucider les rouages. Quirion, pour sa part, revisite l\u2019exposition <em>Fantasmes color\u00e9s<\/em> de Pocreau \u00e0 AXEN\u00c9O7 (2023) en s\u2019attardant notamment aux qualit\u00e9s sensorielles et affectives de la lumi\u00e8re dans ses \u0153uvres, dont les paysages de la s\u00e9rie \u00e9ponyme, l\u2019installation luminescente <em>Ce qu\u2019il en reste<\/em> et la vid\u00e9o aux sc\u00e8nes \u00e9roticopornographiques <em>La chaire lumineuse<\/em>.
