Par l\u2019assemblage d\u2019images vid\u00e9os et de trames sonores, l\u2019artiste, qui place la nature au centre de sa d\u00e9marche depuis longtemps, repr\u00e9sente ici le lent processus de transformation d\u2019un territoire. L\u2019ensemble des traitements de la mati\u00e8re de cr\u00e9ation sert \u00e0 accentuer les changements, souvent imperceptibles, qui surviennent dans les lieux capt\u00e9s par la cam\u00e9ra et le micro. Si, d\u2019un premier abord, l\u2019exposition semble en appeler \u00e0 une contemplation po\u00e9tique de la nature, comme le mentionne l\u2019artiste dans son texte d\u2019introduction en citant Henry David Thoreau notamment, elle met surtout de l\u2019avant une <em>po\u00e9tique de la contemplation <\/em>dans la prise en charge m\u00eame par les \u0153uvres de leur dispositif, voire du processus de cr\u00e9ation en entier.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019exposition est compos\u00e9e de deux installations pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans des salles diff\u00e9rentes. La premi\u00e8re, intitul\u00e9e <em>13 Points of the Falling Star<\/em>, offre une repr\u00e9sentation du crat\u00e8re des Pingualuit au Nunavik sur 13 \u00e9crans dispos\u00e9s en cercle. C\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour la quasi-perfection de sa circonf\u00e9rence et la transparence de son eau, le crat\u00e8re a \u00e9t\u00e9 film\u00e9, photographi\u00e9 et son environnement sonore, enregistr\u00e9 pendant deux semaines par l\u2019artiste et son \u00e9quipe. Ainsi, faisant \u00e9cho au titre qui \u00e9voque l\u2019impact de la m\u00e9t\u00e9orite, les \u00e9crans pr\u00e9sentent chacun cinq points de vue en mouvement du lac du sol au ciel sur une trame sonore con\u00e7ue avec les sons de l\u2019endroit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Seasons of the Rock Wall Forest<\/em>, la seconde installation, se d\u00e9ploie en une s\u00e9rie de huit \u00e9crans dispos\u00e9s dans une pi\u00e8ce tr\u00e8s sombre. Les six \u00e9crans align\u00e9s au mur, divis\u00e9s en 12 tableaux, pr\u00e9sentent des plans rapproch\u00e9s d\u2019une v\u00e9g\u00e9tation qui se transforme au fil des saisons. Plac\u00e9s aux extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s de la pi\u00e8ce, deux \u00e9crans divis\u00e9s en quatre sections se font face. La repr\u00e9sentation fractionn\u00e9e d\u2019un coin de for\u00eat est ici reproduite de fa\u00e7on identique sur chaque \u00e9cran, mais invers\u00e9e par un effet miroir. Inspir\u00e9 par le travail de Michael Snow, notamment <em>La R\u00e9gion centrale <\/em>(1971), Heimbecker assemble des fragments de paysages d\u00e9serts en un mouvement subtil. Invit\u00e9 \u00e0 adopter une attitude contemplative, le spectateur d\u00e9couvre et observe ce l\u00e9ger mouvement sur chaque image pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e en acc\u00e9l\u00e9r\u00e9. Cette attitude contemplative du spectateur est celle-l\u00e0 m\u00eame de l\u2019artiste qui, pour les deux installations, a quotidiennement r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9 les m\u00eames gestes, march\u00e9 des kilom\u00e8tres, d\u00e9plac\u00e9 cam\u00e9ras et micros, un processus traduit ici par la juxtaposition d\u2019images qui mat\u00e9rialisent les lents changements.
