A pioneer in her field of practice, Nelly-Eve Rajotte has been creating audiovisual, performative, and immersive works for twenty-five years. Rajotte\u2019s visual and sound environments can be explored from what sociologist Derrick de Kerckhove calls a point of being<\/em>, a notion that, in contrast to a point of view, refers to being encompassed by a perceived situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video installation Matter. In the depths of flesh, the delicacy of invasive machines <\/em>(2025) questions the somewhat ambivalent relationship between technology, women, and their bodies. It features a performance by the Da Vinci robot, a state-of-the-art surgical system used in abdominal surgeries. Despite being designed to be minimally invasive, the robot seems imposing in certain shots due to the scale of projection, giving the impression of towering over the audience. Using 3D animation and AI-generated images, the work also immerses the audience in the flesh of a fictional female patient, offering an embodied and immersive experience. A tension is at play between two universes: on the one hand, a minimalist space flooded with artificial light that evokes science fiction, and on the other, organic, fictional, almost fantastical landscapes. This oscillation between worlds perpetuates doubt about what belongs to our technological reality or to the realm of speculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Trees communicate with each other at 220 hertz<\/em> (2024), the audience is invited to take a stroll among trees, ferns, lakes, and rivers, achieved through Rajotte\u2019s recreation of an entire forest in the gallery using high-precision point clouds created with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology. This immersion provokes sensations similar to those experienced in a forest, allowing the audience to relax and surrender to the slowness, flow, and tranquility of this reconstructed natural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Rajotte\u2019s works, the audience may feel that they are inhabiting<\/em> the proposed visual and auditory space. The interplay of apparatus and formal choices creates a palpable presence, transforming both the body and its state of being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
